BioNB at BioPort 2019

Andrew Byrne November 18, 2019

On the 5th and 6th of November 2019, representatives from BioNB attended and sponsored the Bioinnovation Challenge at the 18th Annual BioPort Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia. While BioNB hasn’t historically been connected to the life sciences side of the “bio” ecosystem, this an important part of the equation and it gave a chance for 2 of our new team members to get acquainted with all the incredible things happening in this sector in the Maritimes.

The event was hosted by BioNova out of Halifax and featured speakers from across the country as well as a special presentation by the Sickboy podcast which attempts to break the stigma about talking about illness across the globe.

We were beyond excited to also be up on stage with several other sponsor organizations to hand out the final award for the Bioinnovation Challenge to Motryx, a company that provides quality assurance insights throughout the transport of blood samples.

What was your favourite part?

Cynthia Callahan – “The competitiveness of the pitch competition for the Bioinnovation Challenge and its overall structure.”

Andrew Byrne – “The presentation by Dr. Carman Giacomantonio and his discussion on melanoma. Also, the opportunity to connect with so many marketing teams in the hopes of future collaboration.”
