Fredericton, New Brunswick (September 24th, 2014) – BioNB and its partners have announced three special events for National Biotechnology Week, the nation-wide awareness week for innovation in the biosciences industry. Thanks to increased collaboration between BioNB, government, research institutions, and members of industry, bioscience has become the sector to watch in New Brunswick.
2013-2014 has seen more companies, more industry-research partnerships, more government investment, and more cross-sectoral events and meetings that are shaping the future of our province. During National Biotechnology Week, BioNB will present three events that will raise awareness about the growth and successes in the sector over the last year.
September 29th – 30th is the 2014 NB Bioscience Twitter Scavenger Hunt. @BioScienceNB will tweet out clues and challenges related to biotech in our province showcasing regional companies, researchers and innovation happening here at home, while followers submit replies for points toward the grand prize of an iPad!
September 30th is the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute Open House. ACRI is conducting world class cancer research right in our backyard, and members of the public are invited to come see their state-of-the-art facility up close and learn about their important research and technologies.
October 3rd is the second annual Innovation at the Station – the premier social event for the province’s bio sector movers and shakers. This cocktail event boasts great locally-sourced food and drink enjoyed in the company of our top researchers, business owners, government dignitaries, and community supporters. Join us as sector companies and researchers talk about their success over the past year and find out who will be named this year’s winner of the New Brunswick Bioscience Achievement Award.
This year’s events are sponsored by clean water experts LuminUltra Technologies, the talented team at CCNB’s Biorefinery Technology Scale-Up Centre, and the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation who have honoured and funded many prominent bioscience researchers.
