Tapping into Federal Resources to Help Build Your Start-Up

On a mission to build the best thing since sliced bread, right here in Nova Scotia? Discover and leverage the federal funding, testing and support opportunities available to you!

Join us on June 23 in Dartmouth (or in Sydney via webcast) to hear from our expert panel on how to identify and successfully apply for the right programs. Specifically, we’ll discuss the Build in Canada Innovation Program and the Atlantic Innovation Fund. Plus, we’ll have NRC-IRAP’s Concierge Service representatives on deck to provide advice on navigating available opportunities, as well as an entrepreneur who’s got a few successful applications under his belt.

Wendy Taylor, Outreach Officer, Public Works and Government Services Canada, Build in Canada Innovation Program ( – As an outreach officer, Wendy provides information, assistance and advice to businesses regarding procurement-related government policies, procedures, programs and services. Having held a number of positions at Public Works and Government Services Canada, Wendy has worked with many different companies over almost 20 years.

Anne-Louise Dauphinee, Account Manager, ACOA ( – As an account manager with Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Anne-Louise works to create opportunities for economic growth in Atlantic Canada by helping companies become more competitive, innovative and productive. The Atlantic Innovation Fund, just one of ACOA’s programs, supports businesses that want to compete in a global knowledge-based economy through the development and commercialization of new ideas, technologies, products and services. 

Peter Howell & Rick Nowlan, Innovation Advisors, Concierge Service – NRC-IRAP ( – Specializing in finding and sharing information about innovation programs, Peter and Rick provide support to the entire Atlantic region. The advisors guide clients to identify the programs that best respond to their needs, advising them on program selection criteria and helping them structure and strengthen projects.
