Data Visualization CompetitionJenn O'Donnell November 15, 2018
Join us at the University of New Brunswick’s Wu Conference Centre on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018 for the 3rd annual Data Visualization Competition. Students and community members from across Canada will demonstrate the power of data available from all levels of government, academia and industry available to the public.
The Data Visualization Competition will highlight the community-wide benefits of data visualization, including identifying potential improvements to government services and procedures, and recognizing potential business opportunities.
Competitors will analyze, interpret, and compile the existing data and present a recommendation or solution on subjects ranging from social, environmental, and economic. The challenge is to convert complex data into an easy to understand presentation and communicate it to the audience. This event provides students and citizens with valuable hands on research experience, and to engage members of academia, public and private sectors.
Teams will be required to present the data they have analyzed to judges in a rapid “pitch” format in addition to creating an infographic poster for display during the event. It is an ideal setting for citizens to get engaged, to meet leaders in academia, government, and private organizations, and to explore the world of data science.
