Redesigned for Participants’ Needs
Thank you for waiting while the Organizing Team has worked diligently on improving the event to satisfy the desires expressed by attendees over the past few years. Our participants’ satisfaction level has always been high with a large percentage returning year after year, along with a steady growth in new attendees – largely by word of mouth promotion. We thank our past participants for the support and look forward to attracting new ones as we present these improvements.
A brief summary of the changes for this year are:
SCHEDULE The dates of the event will shift ahead by one day. DEFSEC will commence on the evening of Tuesday, September 8 with the Opening Reception. The main days of the show will be on Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10. The goal of this change is to attract and retain maximum participation from industry and government throughout day two.
The entrance is moving to the opposite end of the Exhibition Hall. This will allow for complete separation of the main meeting space and exhibition hall areas and better management of access control and floor set-up. It does however mean that the main entrance is now away from the Presentations & Dining Hall. We have discussed movement with many of our past large and long-time exhibitors and are working to satisfy everyone.
For those planning to renew as an exhibitor or if you are considering becoming one for this year, we highly suggest that you review the floorplan as presented on the web site and connect with us as soon as possible to secure your space.
We will once again be serving the meals in the Cunard Centre building again. The setting across the parking lot at historic Pier 21 was a great venue, however we were not getting the turnout for meals as we had in past years. We anticipate that returning all services to the one facility should improve both the attendee and sponsor experience.
Another significant change for the meals is that they will now be included with everyone’s registration. Every attendee in the hall, whether they are an exhibitor, delegate, government employee or military member, will all be welcome to participate in the buffet style lunches.
It is important to note that the breakfast events have been eliminated and replaced with an enhanced coffee service lasting the entire day. This arrangement will negate the requirement for attendees to carry meal tickets, simplifying administration and improving overall attendance at the event throughout the day.
We have done a complete re-design and refresh of our online presence. The information on our web site has been greatly enhanced to provide additional depth of information and is much more user-friendly and easier to navigate than the previous generation of our site. There are new tools available to help promote the event to various markets and audiences – be sure to check them out. Review the web site and get in touch with our Organizing Team soon to secure space and sponsorship opportunities.

SPECIAL NOTE ON HOTELS FOR 2015
We would like to make you aware that the same week as DEFSEC Atlantic, Halifax will also be hosting the Canadian Country Music Awards. Experience from similar events being in the area in past years has shown us that hotels will be filling up very quickly for that week. We have moved out in front of this challenge for you with three hotel partnerships for DEFSEC Atlantic attendees so far and are working on couple more possible locations.
