The Low Carbon Economy Challenge provides funding to support projects that directly reduce GHG emissions while supporting clean growth. The project must make use of commercially available technologies and cannot include research, development or demonstration elements. The Challenge supports GHG mitigation projects in a number of sectors including forestry, agriculture, waste, transportation and energy production. The level of assistance from all sources of federal funding is calculated based on the type of organization who owns the assets benefiting from the project. Funding levels per project will be between $1 million and $50 million, and the level of assistance will be between 25% and 75%.
