The Research Technicians Initiative (RTI) is a joint initiative between NBIF and the New Brunswick Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labor (PETL). It provides applied researchers some of the funding they need to hire post-graduate and post-doctoral research technicians.Funding is provided to a maximum of $75,000 per position created, primarily for salary and benefits. The funding must be spread over three years in the following manner: 65% in the first year, 50% in the second year, and 35% in the final year.Matching funds can include direct contributions to the technician’s salary and benefits by the college or university, technician-related expenses covered by other funding sources, grants obtained by the technician, and in-kind contributions.
