This position reports to the Director of Wood Science and Technology Centre (WSTC), supports the New Brunswick Innovation Research Chair in Advanced Wood Products (NBIRC-AWP), and conduct research in wood-based products.
·Develop in-house and contract research projects: develop research proposals as required to meet the Centres’ and/or clients’ research mandate, and solicit support from funding agencies for clients and the Centre’s research projects.
·Execute research projects: develop work plans for projects, conduct research projects, ensure overall quality of technical work, and prepare and review reports.
·Market the services of the Centre: visit mills, companies and other organizations, and represent the Centre at technical conferences, seminars and other public forums.
·Assist NBIRC-AWP: advise undergraduate and graduate students to conduct thesis projects.
·PhD degree in wood technology / wood engineering is required.
·Minimum of three years working and/or PDF experience in a research centre is required.
·Knowledge on finite element analysis and statistics is an asset. Ability to write proposals, reports and papers in a scientific manner.
·Efficient communication, both verbal and written.
